Get $25
with a Wealthsimple referral code
Referral code XVJHLJ gives new Canadian clients $25 after you deposit $100 from another bank. The referrer gets $25 too. How to claim it →
New clients only · $100 deposit required · Bonus held 180 days
What the Wealthsimple referral code actually gets you
The Wealthsimple referral bonus is $25 CAD to you and $25 CAD to the referrer. To qualify, sign up with a referral code and deposit at least $100 from a bank outside Wealthsimple within 30 days. The bonus reaches your Wealthsimple Cash account 24–48 hours after the deposit clears.
It is then held for 180 days: you may invest it inside Wealthsimple, but you cannot withdraw it. Your own $100 is never locked. There is no cap on referrals, and the program is open in every province, Quebec included.
The $100 must arrive from a bank outside Wealthsimple, within 30 days of opening the account. Moving money between Wealthsimple accounts you already hold does not qualify, and funding on day 40 does not either. The code also has to be applied at signup — it cannot be added to an existing account.
How to claim your $25 with code XVJHLJ
The full sequence
- Sign up through a referral link, or enter code XVJHLJ while creating the account.
- Complete setup and link an external bank account.
- Deposit $100 or more within 30 days. A single transfer of $100+ qualifies unambiguously.
- Wait for it to settle — a few business days, depending on your bank.
- The $25 appears in Wealthsimple Cash. The 180-day clock starts then.
Allow about a week end to end. Before assuming something's wrong, check whether the deposit has actually settled rather than just showing as pending — that accounts for most reported delays.
What the referral pays, and what's attached
| Who / what | Amount | Condition |
|---|---|---|
| New client | $25 CAD | Deposit $100+ from an external bank within 30 days of signing up |
| Referrer | $25 CAD | Paid once the new client meets the condition above |
| Referral cap | None | Unlimited — uncommon among Canadian programs |
| Withdrawal hold | 180 days | Applies to the bonus only, not to your own deposit |
The even split is worth noting. Plenty of Canadian bank and brokerage referrals pay the referrer several times what the new customer receives — here both sides get the same $25.
The 180-day hold, in practice
The $25 lands in your Wealthsimple Cash account within roughly 24–48 hours of your deposit clearing. From that moment a six-month hold applies to the bonus.
| Permitted during the hold | Not permitted |
|---|---|
| Holding it in Cash and earning interest. Moving it into an investing, TFSA, RRSP or crypto account and investing it. | Withdrawing it to an external bank, or transferring it out of Wealthsimple. |
Your own $100 is not restricted and can be withdrawn whenever you like — the hold attaches to the bonus alone.
This makes the referral a reasonable deal if you were opening a Wealthsimple account anyway, and a poor one if the plan was to deposit $100, collect $25, and close the account next week. That approach does not work here.
Who can claim it
- New Wealthsimple clients only. A referral code will not apply to an account you already hold.
- Every province, Quebec included. Worth checking whenever you compare Canadian offers — a great many exclude Quebec residents. This one does not.
- The qualifying deposit must be external. Internal transfers between your own Wealthsimple accounts don't count toward the $100.
Referral bonus vs. the bigger Wealthsimple promotions
If you've seen substantially larger Wealthsimple figures quoted — transfer bonuses, percentage matches on assets moved from another brokerage, promotional interest rates — those are separate programs, not the referral. They generally require far more money and carry their own qualifying periods and hold rules.
The referral is the small, straightforward one: $100 in, $25 back, no minimum ongoing balance, no direct deposit requirement, no payroll setup. Don't assume conditions attached to a transfer promotion apply to the referral, and don't assume the two stack.

Who maintains this
Every figure on this page was checked against Wealthsimple's published referral terms on . Where this page states a condition — the $100 minimum, the 30-day window, the 180-day hold — it reflects those terms as published on that date, not a number copied from another comparison site.
Referral programs change without notice. If something here no longer matches what Wealthsimple shows you, it's out of date and worth flagging.
